Terms of Service

These terms govern your access to and use of statshelpr.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Your continued use of the Service constitutes ongoing acceptance of any updated terms posted to this page.

2. Description of Service

statshelpr provides a Chrome extension that generates worked solutions and runnable R code for statistics problems. It reads a problem from a Canvas page you are viewing.

The extension does not run on its own. On any supported page it stays dormant and displays nothing until you click the statshelpr toolbar icon for that page, and it does not read or transmit your quiz content until you then request a solution for a specific question. Both steps are yours. Activation is per page load — reloading the page, or opening another one, requires you to activate it again. The Service has no background, scheduled, or automatic mode.

The Service is not a substitute for your own understanding or judgment, and it does not determine what your institution permits. See Section 5.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

4. Permitted Use

You must use the Service lawfully and in compliance with any school, employer, testing, or institutional policy that applies to you. You are solely responsible for determining whether your use of the Service is permitted under the rules of your institution or organisation before using it.

5. Academic Integrity

statshelpr is a statistics tutoring and computation tool. It displays worked solutions and runnable R code. Every use of it is one you initiate: the Service does nothing on a page until you activate it there, and produces no answer until you request a solution for a particular question. When you request a solution, statshelpr enters its answer into that question for you — selecting the choice it picked for multiple choice, checkbox, and dropdown questions, and typing its answer into text, numeric, matching, and fill-in-the-blank fields. Where a field is disabled or read-only, such as a quiz you have already submitted, it highlights its answer instead of entering it. Review what it entered before you submit; it may be wrong. statshelpr does not submit a quiz, assignment, or form for you — submitting is always a separate act you perform. What you do with the output, and whether you submit it, is your decision.

Institutions differ in what outside tools they permit, and permissions vary between homework, practice, and graded assessments within the same course. You are responsible for knowing and following your institution's academic integrity policy, including whether outside tools are permitted for a given assignment or assessment. You may not use the Service in a manner prohibited by that policy, and we may suspend or terminate access under Section 13 if we believe you have.

6. Prohibited Use

You may not use the Service for fraud, abuse, or unlawful activity of any kind; unauthorized account or token sharing; reverse engineering, copying, or redistributing the Service or its underlying code, prompts, or infrastructure; any violation of institutional, professional, or legal policy; or harassment, impersonation, or harm to others.

7. Accounts and Tokens

Access tokens are single-user personal licences. You must not share your token with any other person. You are fully responsible for all activity performed using your token or credentials, whether or not authorised by you. A paid licence is active on one device at a time: while it is active on one device, activating it on a second device is refused until the existing activation is released. To move your licence to another device, request a reset and we will email a one-time reset link to the address on your purchase; confirming that link releases the previous device so the licence can activate on the new one.

8. Payments, Billing, and Auto-Renewal

Unlimited access is billed as a recurring subscription at the price clearly shown at checkout and renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. During the early bird promotion, eligible subscriptions renew at $14.99/month while continuously active; the standard new-subscriber price is $19.99/month after the promotion ends. Payments are processed by our external payment provider. We do not store raw card information on our servers. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the payment provider's customer portal at app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders/login or by contacting support; cancellation stops future renewals but does not itself entitle you to a refund for the current billing period, which is governed by our Refund Policy.

9. Intellectual Property

All software, prompts, infrastructure, and content behind the Service are proprietary to statshelpr and may not be copied, redistributed, or used to build competing products without express written permission.

10. No Warranties - Disclaimer

The Service is provided on an as-is, as-available basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any output generated, or that outputs will meet your specific academic, professional, or technical requirements. You use outputs from the Service at your own risk and are responsible for verifying their accuracy before relying on them.

You acknowledge and represent that statistical and computational output can be incorrect, incomplete, or inapplicable to your specific problem, and that you will independently verify any output before relying on it for academic, professional, or any other purpose. You accept the risk of any error in output you have not verified.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid for access. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, academic penalties, disciplinary action, loss of opportunity, or reputational harm. We are not liable for any outcome arising from your decision to use the Service in a manner that violates these Terms, your institution's policies, or applicable law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless statshelpr, its operators, owners, affiliates, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any third-party right (including any institutional academic integrity policy), or any claim by a third party (including educational institutions) resulting from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

13. Term, Suspension, and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, misused your token, or posed a risk to the Service or other users. You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Payments, Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Indemnification — will survive.

14. Dispute Resolution; Arbitration Agreement; Class Action Waiver

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding, individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, or, if the American Arbitration Association is unavailable or declines to administer, by another neutral arbitration provider selected under 9 U.S.C. § 5, rather than in court — except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court to prevent unauthorized use or infringement of intellectual property. You and statshelpr each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or any representative proceeding; claims must be brought in an individual capacity only, and an arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating your name and that you opt out of arbitration; opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.

If the class action waiver in this Section is held unenforceable as to any claim or request for relief, that waiver — and only that waiver — is severed as to that claim, and the remainder of this Section, including the agreement to arbitrate all other claims individually, remains in full force. If any other provision of this Section is held unenforceable, it is severed and the remainder of this Section survives.

15. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We may update these Terms. For any material change, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email to the address associated with your subscription and by posting the revised Terms to this page with a new version number and effective date. Material changes take effect at the end of that notice period and apply prospectively only — they do not apply to any dispute that arose before the effective date. Non-material changes (typographical corrections, clarifications that do not alter your rights or obligations) take effect when posted.

If you do not agree to a revised version, you may cancel before its effective date and the prior version continues to govern your use until cancellation. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service itself at any time.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Section 14 governs how disputes between you and statshelpr are resolved.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and statshelpr regarding your use of the Service and supersede any prior understandings or agreements.

Version 2.0 — effective 27 July 2026. The version in effect when you accepted these Terms governs your use until you accept a revised version under Section 15.

Privacy Policy

This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

1. Information We Collect

We collect account and transaction metadata needed to provide access, enforce device and usage limits, and deliver support. The statshelpr browser extension also collects and sends more specific data described in detail in items 4 through 9 below, including the quiz content you ask it to solve, any files you upload, and a per-install identifier. Item 10 describes a separate record of your agreement to these policies, created at checkout.

2. How We Use Data

We use data to authenticate users, process payments through third-party providers, issue tokens, send onboarding emails, generate answers to the questions you submit through the browser extension, and improve reliability.

3. Payment Data

Payment details are handled by external processors. We do not store complete card numbers or CVV data on our infrastructure.

4. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

5. Quiz Content You Ask Us to Solve

When you click the extension's solve button on a Canvas quiz question, we send that question's text, its answer choices or fill-in-the-blank options, and any images attached to it — the page's "website content," in Chrome Web Store's data-disclosure terms — to our servers at api.statshelpr.com/api/solve so our AI can generate an answer. This content is processed by our backend and by our upstream AI model provider, Google Gemini, in order to produce the response; for calculation questions, our servers also execute the generated R code on our own compute infrastructure (Google Cloud Run) to produce the numeric result. Request data may be logged on our side for security, abuse prevention, and operational debugging.

6. Quiz Images That Require Your Canvas Login

Some quiz images are only viewable while you're logged into Canvas. For those, the extension fetches the image using your existing Canvas browser session so it can be included in the request described above. That session is used only to load the image from Canvas's own servers — we do not receive, see, or store your Canvas login, password, or session cookie. Once fetched, the image itself is sent to our servers like any other quiz content.

7. Files You Upload

CSV, TSV, or plain-text data files you add through the extension's popup — "user-generated content" — are stored locally in your browser (up to 5MB per file and 8MB total) and automatically removed after 7 days. While a file is active, its full contents are sent to our servers along with your solve requests. Our AI model provider does not receive the file itself: the AI is given only a summary of it — the file's name, its row and column counts, and for each column its name and type plus either summary statistics (mean, median, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, and count of missing values) or a list of that column's most frequent values and how often each occurs. The full file contents are passed only to the R execution service (Google Cloud Run) that runs the generated R code for calculation questions. Uploaded files are used only to answer your questions.

8. Install Identifier

The first time you install the extension, it generates a random identifier — not derived from your name, email, or Canvas account — and stores it via Chrome's built-in sync storage, which may follow you across browsers signed into the same Google account. This identifier is sent as an X-Install-Id header on solve and telemetry requests so we can apply the free plan's daily solve limit per install, and enforce the one-active-device rule on paid licenses described in item 9 below and in Section 7 of our Terms. If you start an upgrade from the extension, the identifier is also attached to your Lemon Squeezy checkout as order metadata so your license can activate on this install automatically after payment.

9. License Key (Paid Plans)

If you purchase Unlimited, checkout hands your Lemon Squeezy license key to the extension, which stores it via Chrome's sync storage. The key is sent as an authorization header on solve requests, and included in requests to activate a device, validate the license, or reset it so it can move to a new device — all needed to confirm your paid access and enforce the single-device limit described in Section 7 of our Terms.

10. Record of Your Agreement to the Terms

Before you can continue to checkout, you must tick a box confirming you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Refund Policy. When you then use the purchase button, we record that agreement so we can later show which version of the Terms you accepted and when. The record contains: the install identifier from item 8 — or, if you reach the checkout page without the extension installed, a one-time identifier generated for that page visit and not stored in your browser; the time we received the acceptance, stamped on our servers, alongside the time your own browser reported; which version of the Terms was displayed to you; your browser's user-agent string, truncated; and the two-letter country code our network provider derives from your connection. We do not store your IP address in this record, and we never store your license key in it — acceptance happens before payment, so no key exists yet. Because the same identifier is attached to your Lemon Squeezy checkout as order metadata (item 8), this record can be matched to the resulting order. We keep it for seven years, which is longer than anything else described in this policy: its only purpose is to still exist if someone later disputes that an agreement was formed, so it has to outlast the deadlines for bringing such a dispute.

11. Product Usage Telemetry (Content-Free)

Each solve attempt also sends a small usage event to api.statshelpr.com/api/telemetry: which solving mode was used, a coarse question-type category (e.g. multiple choice, dropdown), the model's confidence level, whether the answer could be automatically filled into the page (and how many fields were affected), and how long the request took, tagged with the install identifier from item 8. This event never includes your question text, answer choices, uploaded files, or the model's answer — only these counts and category labels — and is used to monitor reliability and answer quality across the product.

12. Data Sharing

We share data only with vendors needed to operate the product, including payment processing, email delivery, cloud infrastructure (Cloudflare and Google Cloud), and our AI model provider, Google Gemini, which processes request content as described in item 5.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and operational safeguards, including access controls and transport encryption, to protect service data.

14. Data Retention

We retain records only as long as needed for account operations, legal obligations, fraud prevention, and support. Uploaded data files are automatically deleted from your browser after 7 days; your install identifier and license key remain in your browser's sync storage until you remove them, reset your license, or uninstall the extension. The record of your agreement to these policies, described in item 10, is kept for seven years — the longest retention period in this policy, and the reason for it is given there.

15. Your Rights

We do not sell your personal information. Depending on your state or country of residence, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to opt out of certain processing. For account or privacy requests, contact support by email and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe. Last updated: July 2026.

Refund Policy

This policy explains when refunds may be provided for statshelpr purchases.

1. Digital Product Notice

statshelpr is a digital software product. Access is delivered electronically after successful purchase.

2. General Refund Rule

Because access is delivered immediately, purchases are generally non-refundable once a token has been issued.

3. Eligibility Review

If there is a clear billing error, duplicate charge, or technical fulfillment failure on our side, we may grant a refund after review.

4. Chargebacks and Abuse

Tokens associated with chargebacks, payment disputes, fraud, or abuse may be suspended or revoked.

5. How to Request Help

For billing or access issues, contact support with your purchase email and order reference so we can investigate quickly.

6. Policy Updates

We may update this policy periodically. Updated terms become effective when posted on this page.
